I am a woman. What a strange thing to say. A life of sacrifice and bleeding. A low hum of agony in the background from your eleventh birthday until the sun goes out.

My practice focuses on the female experience, the feelings of a female body, including themes of the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, loss, and the melancholic emotions which accompany such things.

The work is autobiographical, I use paint to capture fleeting moments of my experience in this body. Colour and composition are used as tools to express my emotions and the sensations of being. The paintings range from abstract versions of the female body to convey the innermost parts of myself, to more traditional self portraits. The work invites us into the intimacy of our own identity.
